our story

Kainos Coffee started out with two childhood best friends roasting coffee over their fireplace with their scrappy homemade roaster. Their passion became their business within months. Now, they are happily serving their customers online and in two cafe locations, gaining attention from the Specialty Coffee Association, Travel Channel and Portland Monthly.
From the owners:
We love serving our customers and and our local communities both by the goods we serve and the charity work we do. Below you can read all about our biggest charity partner, Lifechild Asia, and how the coffee you buy is used to provide clothes, food and education in the Philippines to children in need. Follow us on social media to hear how we are currently supporting our local communities as well by giving back and using locally sourced ingredients. Thank you for stopping by our website, come stop by our shop so we can meet you in person!

We started our company with the goal in mind of being able to give back globally and locally. Currently, our global charity efforts are focused on LifeChild Asia Foundation. LifeChild Asia helps give abandoned Philippine children homes and into school. We have had the please of personally visiting the facilities and meeting the kids that our customers support daily simply by buying coffee.  The kiddos pictured above are some of the children we have the privildege of directly supporting at LifeChild.

Locally, we have been partnering with various organizations like Cupcake Girls. CG provides confidential support to those involved in the sex industry, as well as those affected by domestic sex trafficking through holistic resources, case management, and after care. We've also had the pleasure of donating coffee and pastries to churches and schools in the Portland area.

We humbly share this information not to pat ourselves on the back, but rather show how when we all come together to promote kindness and love, big things happen. We have a ton of respect for the organizations we support and want to sing their praises and share their mission with you as much as possible!
